    Satisfied with the death of Sebastian, the emperor had the saint’s body thrown into a sewer so that it may never be seen again.

    But this proved not to be the case, for one day, another Christian woman, named Lucina, was startled to be greeted by the spirit of Saint Sebastian. As she knelt before the ghost, he told her where she might find his body, asking that she bury it at the base of the Appian Mountains. When he had disappeared, filled with faith and determination, Lucina hurried off to where he had instructed and took the body to a special place in the catacombs by the mountainside.

    There, Saint Sebastian was finally laid to rest.
